Yahoo! following Google Sitemaps / Google Webmaster tools (old, probably outdated)

Yahoo now also offers some more information in their SiteExplorer software about owned websites as Google already does.

Playing a bit with the Yahoo! SiteExplorer showed a new nice button: MySites (archive.org)

Hmmm… sounds interesting, doesn’t it? So I just added one of my websites and what happened now? Verification file (ever heard that from Google, eh?!) - ok, installed. Now the verification process is pending, I’m waiting for the next steps and the information that might be available.

So what does that mean? Yahoo really seems to compete with the Google Sitemaps / Google Webmaster tools service to give more and detailed feedback to the webmasters - and maybe also give them some options to work directly with the SE and give detailed and explicite information.

This looks promising. Did any of you have similar information about that from MSN or Ask? Maybe they could (again) sit together and create a common way to deal with such things as e.g. a common API or webservice or something similar.

Yahoo also seems to have some simple API functions already working, the UpdateNotification function seems interesting for phpSitemapNG. :-)

What are your results and comments? Does it work for your websites?
